"K.A.Ward" engraved M&P 38 target revolver

At a local gun show today and picked up a nice 1930's vintage M&P target model serial #594486 with the name "K.A.Ward" neatly engraved on sideplate. Anyone ever heard of this gentleman.....marksman or match shooter or just average joe?? Looks like the front sight was slightly altered a long time ago to suit a serious shooter's whim. Any info would be appreciated. Sorry, but can't do pix. Thanks for any help. Ron
