I have a couple of S&Ws and a Colt PP to share.
I wish I took photos of the 10-8 I was issued back when I served in the Philippine National Police.
Mod 15 from the CA Dept of Corrections.




Has a target hammer. I don't know if these came standard with this model.

Mod 67 from the Yolo County Sheriff's Dept in NorCal.

Had to do a double take when I first saw it around 2015. It was when kids were saying YOLO (you only live once) wherever they go.
Finally a Colt PP (circa 1924) issued to agents of the defunct American Railway Express

Here's a famous photo taken by Gardner in 1862 of Allan Pinkerton (on the left), President Lincoln and Major General McClernand.





Until I can find a vintage example, this more modern 12-3 Pinkerton will have to do. It was carried by a local "Pinkerton" guard and is in excellent condition. The alloy frame shows hardly any wear.

1905 M&P 32-20 marked Pennsylvania Railroad Police.

Over the years, forum members have talked about individual officers using .32-20 revolvers. I wonder how many the Pennsy RR bought?

Since you know where and approximately when it shipped, I suggest you PM BIll Cross and ask whether a letter and SWHF request might be productive. I think the digitized records now go back to 1920. I know it’s not a “valuable, collector-grade” gun, but those aren’t always the interesting ones

Great advice. I'm drawn to guns for their history more than their condition. Surprising to me that it is 32-20.

Somehow I have accumulated a large number of ex-cop guns. Really wasn't trying but they are often offered as shooters and that's what I buy. All have likely been posted at some time. Here are a couple.

Utah Highway Patrol RM. One of 50 shipped in 1938 this is #27.




Nickel 19-3 shipped to Customs & Immigration in 1970. I bought it from the retired officer in 1989.



Nickel 15-3 shipped to a university in LA for the campus police. I added the polished stags.

Here is a pre-war magnum that shipped to University Park Police Department in Texas. The chief at time of the order was a very visible party to the hunt for Binnie & Clyde.

Guns must be a LOT cheaper in Aussie Land than here in the colonies. That's about a $400 piece anyplace in town. JMHO.

I don't know if this was a LE gun before I got it, but it is now (off-duty use only). The holster and sap came from my grandfather, a reserve deputy in California in the '50s. That's a 1956 Chief's Special.

Victory Model for England stamped with PD markings for a German city. Many of these were issued to German police after the war. Took their Lugers and P38s and then gave them these. Whatever. Magnas swapped on for comfort.

I just retired as a captain at City of Tulsa Security (because there are some things police officers won't do).

The Model 642-2 was my personally owned BUG for the three years I was a captain.


The Model 65-1 was the last duty weapon I carried (against policy requiring me to carry the issued Model 686-6). This gun is marked MPD 55, so I wasn't the first badge toter to carry it. Guess I need to get it lettered.

I started a post about this revolver, but I figured I'd immortalize it in this thread as well. This Military and Police belongs to a close friend of mine who is a fellow Peace Officer. It was carried by her great-uncle, Sgt. Dan Sandlin, of the Middletown, Ohio, Police Department, when he was killed in the line of duty on 3-20-1930. After Dan had been shot multiple times, this revolver was picked up by his partner, Patrolman Roy Crout, who used it to shoot Dan's murderer, having already emptied his own gun.

I haven't posted this particular photo before, which I have edited to give an older look.

This Model 66 No Dash 4" is not my actual duty weapon during my time in uniform, but it is 100% set up as mine was. This is the most accurate revolver I own. Scary accurate.

And my 66-1 2.5" is the gun I mainly carried during my time in Investigations. It's wearing new shoes these days.

Has to be anonymously, but whenever I and/or the wife are at lunch or dinner and see cops eating, I/we pick up their tab and tell the server just tell them a "very appreciative" customer is grateful for the thankless job they do.

This 1957 Colt Cobra was carried for over 20 years by an Iowa small town retired police officer.

Was I ever excited when I got issued this M66 in 1980.
I'd just started and within the year, the department switched from Colt Troopers and Trooper MKIII's to the M66's. 4" for uniform, 2.5" for Detectives.

Lived with this revolver from 1980 until we went to autos about 1989/90, which was the M1076.

This M66 has a case number electro-penciled on the grip frame from an OIS where it saved my bacon in 1982.

Here is a Model 19 marked TXDPS....likely issued to a Texas Ranger as the rank and file got Model 28's and investigators got 2.5" model 19's

Sorry no pictures ...but Dad got a 6 inch Colt New Service in .357 magnum in 1938 or 39 and shipped it off to Kings in Calf for adjustable sights and an action job. Served as his main duty gun (and centerfire target gun while on the Dept. Pistol Team shooting Master) until he made Capt.

Dad bought himself a 4" M&P when he got back from the S Pacific in 1946; S836xxx lettered to Aug 1946

2" Model of 1905, shipped in 1940 to the State of Oklahoma. I have had no luck finding out what Dept. it may have served in, but appears to have been someone's daily carry. These days it rides in a Myres Barton Special.

Here is a 4" Model of 1905 wearing its original nickle belonging to George Harrison ( no, not that George Harrison ), who began as a patrolman for the Ft. Worth PD in the 20's and retired in the 50's. I have never lettered it as it would undoubtedly just come back as a Wolf & Klar gun.
