Default Current prices ...

I went on a minor K frame buying spree a while back. I got :

K22 Outdoorsman , 1931 first year , Oct. of '15 , $546.

model of 1905 , built 1909 , 6 1/2" bbl , lanyard ring , Dec. of '15 , $389.

model of 1902 , built 1903 , 6 1/2" bbl , Feb. of '16 , $250.

All are in similar condition: moderate wear to bluing , no pitting , excellent bores , very good lock up and function. The K22 and 1905 have original grips , the 1902 had replacement grips. All were Gunbroker items. Shortly after these three I picked up a model 15 - well worn , for a learning platform for disassembly and such. Finish worn , grips very worn , excellent function , $200 , same source.

Recently I got the itch again and searched a number of websites for K frames. It seems to me that prices - at least asking prices - have gone up considerably since I made the above acquisitions. Has the market shifted upward in the last year or two? Shopping isn't so much fun at the current prices , it seems...

I don't think the prices have gone up.
You just stole some of the ones you listed.

I have to agree with Paul you just got really good deals, especially on the outdoorsman.

High condition guns with original boxes , grips , tools & papers fetch the best prices . 95% or less original finish shooter grade without any accessories not so much . A prewar 22 ODM with all original package in 98%+ condition are selling for $ 2400 to $ 3000 . Even a prewar M&P in 98%+ all original package go for $ 1000 to $ 1200 . Very scarce or rare guns are the exception , along with antiques .

Not my area; but IIRC what I've seen here....... that K22 was about 30-40% off market.

I just (last month) got a "nice" shooter grade 4inch K22 combat masterpiece/ Pre-18 (1957 not marked) for around $500.....SCS&W 4th Ed.... says ANIB $1500... Excellent $1100.

I sold a 1948 shooter grade K22 Masterpiece 6" with unrelieved target stocks for 50% of..... the ANIB value of $1500 ...... to a good friend,

Everyone was happy.............................

Condition Condition Condition......

I guess I was on a roll. Maybe I was putting more time and effort into the quest back then.

Glad I got my K frames.

Better get your N frames while you can afford them

My opinion is that finally S&W's are getting the credit they deserve and slowly gaining a little on the high priced Colt's.

I think we have all enjoyed the lower prices for so many years on the early S&W's, but as you can see from watching David Carroll's GunBroker auctions, the final selling prices are going up steadily on the better examples especially.

Keep your powder dry!

Wow - I would just love a 1931 K 22 for that price.
The rest aren't my cup of cafe,
But that K22!

I feel that prices have gone up a bit as well. Some more than others. The I frames seem pretty steady, but K's have gone up. Niche pistols like the 610 etc have gone up a lot. There are still bargains to be found but not as easy as it once was. One LGS had a Victory parkerized US Property in very nice condition for $895?? A lightly used 69 for $675 in the box!! Often no rime or reason for prices.

That was my first impression as well. With the current market, I've been thinking even my totally beat, no box, aftermarket stocks, first-year K-22OD would likely get around $500.

And dang, a Victory for $895? Sheesh. I'd expect a pint of Ike's blood to come along at that price. I recently saw a well-worn Bavarian Police Victory go on GB for just over $400, I thought that was maybe a bit high.

Has anyone paid any attention to the prices listed in the new SCSW4? Some are "up there".

Speaking of Victories , a year and a half back I found a very nice DSC 1942 , non US Property marked , backstrap marked AOP for Arkansas Ordinance Plant. At $399 I was very pleased. Hard to match that today.
