1950 44 Target
What would be a fair price for a 95% 5 screw high polish blue 6 1/2" 1950 44 without grips. Thanks for your time. Lou
My FFL called a short time ago. Wants $2200.00.
My % tends to be conservative and a description of the condition may help your evaluation. There is very, very minor blue wear both sides of the muzzle. Also a very small bit of white (1/32" in dia.) about 1 1/2" from the muzzle. There is a cylinder ring, more than likely from dry firing since the recoil shield has all of the blue remaining.
Appreciate everyone's feedback.Lou

Your FFL is close to $1000 off. Nice ones with the correct grips (which are numbered to the gun) go for $1,500 to $1,800 depending on how nice.

Without the correct stocks (or any at all, I guess) I agree about $1,200. A 95% gun is a borderline shooter grade. To me $1,400 and deduct $150-$200 for missing stocks.
If he wants $2,200 he won't accept anything close to what we're saying it's worth. Leave your name and number with a $1,200 offer and tell him if he can't do better to call you. I've bought a number of guns and cars that way.

I presume this is a Target version. A 1950 Military with a 6 1/2" barrel would be worth much more.

Photos would help here. The standard blue of the era of most postwar .44 HE Targets was not highly polished; it may have been a special order or a refinish.

You are correct. An oversight on my part..
