Default 1955 Pre 24 four inch

I've had this one since 2001 when I bought it for $450. Big deal at the time with kids in school and all.
It letters as such to Charles Greenblatt Co. NY 9-26-55. The fellow I bought it from said his dad bought it from a fellow who did trick shooting down south near Loudon Tenn and filed the front sight blade to a point with just enough flat on top for elevation. I kept it like that and painted the blade for my eyes. It is one great shooter.

1955 is my birth year and I really like that old gun, is it asking too much if you'd take your money back for it?
Seriously, congrats on a very exquisite piece.

Very Nice!! I kinda like the way that blade was done too. Did the letter mention if it was high polish blue? I believe that was special order at the time. You've already been offered your money back, I'll double it

I wanted one like that so badly when I was younger. Spent 25 years looking for one. Never found one for sale at any price. About 10 years ago I settled and bought a pair (both also from 1955) that shipped with 6.5" barrels but one was fitted with a 5" replacement barrel and the other was cut to 5" length. I like them a lot...they're cool and all...but they're not what I was seeking.

Yes, the letter says bright blue and four inch. The TT and TH were added after it shipped.

Great lookin' 44 spl. & I bet it's a great shooter too.

I've been known to brighten up the front sight with nail polish to be able to see better with old eyes.

We lived in good times to get what we got when we got it!

All of the 4 inch 1950 Targets I have seen photos of are bright blue. I have never seen one in the duller, less polished standard (of the time) finish. Mine, also bright blue, shipped in January 1955.

Moosedog, $450 was a good deal even then! Not cheap, still a big chunk of a lawman's wage at the time, but pre-internet, these things were IMPOSSIBLE for a guy without a lot of connections in the gun community to find one he could purchase. 1950 Targets have never traded cheap, that'd for sure.

I was thinking the same, $450 wasn't much for one of the more desired revolvers even back then, thanks to all the LE guys who had carried and written about that set-up.

Just saw one of these for sale online. It is quite sweet. My mutual funds have rebounded enough in the past couple months that I'm seriously considering diversification into this Grail gun

Hopefully it will be a very merry Christmas.

Let's see... adjustable sight N-frame in 44 Special with 4" barrel and target trigger and hammer. That is darn close to being the perfect revolver.
Congratulations, I'd be tickled with that one.
