Your going to want to ask on the Form Office or PM a moderator.
In general referring to a ongoing auction is a no no.
I would consider at least trying on here. Worst can happen is they don't sell.

At the risk of incurring the moderators swift wrath, I'd like to post something when I auction the Tuskoid grips. Is there a proper way to do that?

If I were you, I'd keep them. You have a cornerstone to a pre war collection of Smith & Wesson stocks. Some of the biggest collectors don't have what you have. If you do decide to sell them, I'd say you should put a minimum of $1000.00 on them.

Unfortunately Club Gun Fan, I've acquired a taste for even older and rarer things like this breech loading, rifling, pocket pistol from the late 17th century.

As the saying goes "I don't have a dog in this fight". That being said my 2 cents agrees with Club Gun Fan. Being a little long in the tooth gives me a different prospective than I wouldn't have had even ten yrs ago. If you have something, regardless of it's value, and it prides you to own it then by all means hold on to it. Best regards, hardcase60

We each have our own poison hardcase60, there are a lot of things I could never sell.

If it were me and that is what you collect, offer it in trade. You get what you want, trader gets what they want.

Happily I own the Rifled Pocket Flintlock Pistol by Henry Ellis, Circa 1690. But I would trade these Tuskoid Grips is a second for an early Spanish Miquelet Lock pistol like this one (also in my current collection). Any takers?

Dana,
I understand and appreciate how you feel about the grips. Despite the grips being rare, special, interesting, valuable, etc. you personally are not interested, and the freed capital you would gain after selling would allow you to purchase something more to your liking. I sold scarce Remingtons, German handguns, post 1970 S&Ws and Colts to further my own S&W collection - having more capital to go after what YOU collect always makes sense.
You wouldn't be able to post a link on ebay, or gunbroker (that is prohibited on our forum) if you decided to auction them that way, BUT you could casually mention which site they are on. Its not like people will have trouble finding them, searching "tuskoid" will bring them right up

It is not that I am NOT interested Jim, but my real passion is for early Spanish Colonial weapons. Like you, I need to sell some of what I have to acquire something I value even more.
I am trying not to run afoul of the moderators. So if anyone would like a heads up when these grips go to auction, they may want to drop me a private message.

I once owned the Tuskoid grip registered magnum as well. I found it in gunshop near Middletown NY. It was sold to me as a Pre-Model 27 for $800. It had late S&W Target grips on it from the 1980's or so. I resold it for about $1800 pre internet and pre the big run up in prices. I lettered it and Roy was very interested in it. It was shipped as 1 of 1 to Mexico City. Glad to see it again. I collect mainly Colt 1911's.

It is fun to revisit an "old friend" when you see it come around again. Sometime you end up kicking yourself for selling in the first place.
I don't plan to sell my WWII Navy Colt 1911, or the SAA Colt .45 my Father carried in the South Pacific.
