Never thought I'd own another (PreWar 357) KB stocks update
With the price of Pre 27s and even 27-2s, I considered myself lucky to find a couple of nice 27-2s. I was sure I'd never find another 3.5" Pre War 357, which is by far my favorite firearm. Then low and behold I'm working nights and the revolver of my dream appears, right here on the classifieds. Beautiful magnas, hump back hammer and King ramp with Baughman front sight. What a great Christmas present !

Got a chance to "coonfinger" that bad boy today.
One of the finest Smith's I've ever held.
My offer of $125.00 was turned down.

Many:
I for one am very glad that you subscribe to the "S&W catch and release" program. When you get ready to release that beauty, you can send it downstream to swim in my "pond" with that 3.5" RM that you released to me several years ago... I still smile the big smile when I think back on the time I picked that one up at my FFL's.
Congrats on snagging a great Christmas present!!!

This is exactly what happened to me! I saw the listing and thought it was a stunning revolver. I scrolled down a bit and saw it was already gone.
Congratulations on a great buy. There are a lot of envious people here sitting on the sidelines.

Today I talked to the man that sold this NRM to the man I got it from. I hoped he may have information on the history of it. I promised the man I bought it from that I wouldn't say what I paid and that I didn't care what he made on it. The original seller was a young man, I'd say maybe 30. He said I'm happy, I made money on it when I sold it for $1200.00!!!!!!! Man!!!! I guess there are still deals out there!!!! I guess it's best that I promised the man I bought it from to not reveal what I paid, the original seller would have probably been sick.

Got the letter. NRM went to Oshmans in Houston Tx on July 18,1940. Kind of surprises me that they were billed at $ 35.45. I know the options were limited but the quality seems the same and it's almost half of what they sold for in 1935. I understand this is a wholesale price for retail but it still surprises me. I was pleased to know that it lettered just as it is , stocks, hammer, sights and barrel length. I'm very pleased. I wish it had an interesting history but you can't win them all.

I think it is an interesting history (at least to a former Houstonian). Didn't the Houston Police Department 3rd Model HEs also go to Oshman's?
Just before shipping out to Vietnam, my father bought his 1968 Colt Python (now mine) at Oshman's in Houston. It was a nice store, and I wish they were still around.

I hadn't thought about Oshman's for a long time. There were lots of Oshman's stores in Texas at one time, and I suppose they were a national chain. I have been in several of them back when they were in operation. I think they were bought up by some other chain a long time ago, don't know who. Whoever, I doubt they still stock guns.

They were bought by Sports Authority. At one time, I'm pretty sure Sports Authority didn't carry firearms in the Texas stores, but they may now. They do carry them in Anchorage.

Maybe saying that it doesn't have an interesting history isn't exactly what I should have said. I mean that I wish it would have had a very interesting history, like going to a Texas Ranger, an FBI office or agent, Sheriff, Military Officer, etc. That would have been fun to research.
I had allowed my mind to wander that it may have gone to Frank Hamer, since it came from McKinney TX., but I knew I couldn't get that lucky.
I do find it interesting that it took over 75 years for it to make it 2 hours east on I-10!

Glad you got the letter, I'm thinking that gun is a "gift gun" as cheaply as it's been sold at since day one.....and a feller ought to pass gifts along.
Now, Many, don't you forget my phone number.

Have you checked the S&WHF for any records? They sometimes show purchaser on the order form and may have other documents. Costs nothing if they don't find anything. I've gotten several owners names from S&WHF documents. Good Luck! Nice Gun!!!!!!

That would be a great conceal carry if it wasn't so "rare." The problem is if you ever did have to use it and the law was involved, innocent or not they hardly ever allow you to have it back if it took a life. I know because my wife took her life with my S&W 357 and they said they never return a firearm once it has taken a life. I was told they destroy them but you and I know some officer now has it. I just can't imagine them melting one of these fine revolvers down.

You sir have both exceptional taste in guns and leather. It is good to see Alex knock another one out of the park for a fellow sophisticate.
