6.5" Pre 27 - "Plane Jane" Nice...
Although not "rare" the 6.5" pre 27's are not seen all that often. Here are a few photos of a nice one with its box (that numbers to the gun)...
...and a couple of "just the gun" photos...
I'd love to see your 6.5" pre-27s - do they have a Patridge or a Baughman front sight?
Thanks for letting me share.

I love that one!!! Is it Jarvis or RA Smith engraved (I'm thinking Jarvis)? And does it letter as shipping with the cokes? BTW- I'd love to see the other side - and maybe a few closer-ups...

Here is my 1955 pre-27 6.5 inch (pardon my poor pics). It has the pinned Patridge front sight. It's in pretty nice condition, however yours blows mine away! VERY, VERY nice gun! Thanks for sharing these.

Richard, It's a little too early for Russ Smith. It is Harry Jarvis Class A engraved serial#S99066, shipped April 21, 1954 to Rex Firearms N.Y. The grips letter as checkered rosewood targets. There is some discussion as to whether these are the original grips or not. Of course they are not numbered and they are too early for "cokes". We'll probably never know. I like them!

I'd say those stocks were a "poster child" for Cokes.

That's a nice one Richard.
A few months ago I was lucky to find a nice one that shipped March 3, 1955. It lettered as having shipped with target stocks. I found a nice box for it, but since it has target stocks it doesn't fit in the box. It does fit in my 8 3/8" pre 27 box. It makes me wonder if S&W shipped it in a 8 3/8" box?
(sorry for the slight thread drift )

Here's mine, S83406, lettered as shipped 8/6/52 to Shapleigh Hardware, St. Louis. It's a nice shooter that came with coke stocks attached. It now wears period-correct diamond magnas. Knives by Tom Krein.

Does your box number to the gun?
Would you please take a picture of one of the ends of the lid, or measure the length of the box?
Thank you.

In the shooter grade department - I have a 6.5" 27-2 that was shipped in 1965. It was my first (or maybe my 2nd) N-Frame 357 that I ever purchased. It sports Ahrends grips, a Nelson Ford action job and lots of holster wear. It shoots like a dream and is my second favorite shooter, after an 8.375" pre-27. A couple of glamour shots of the old 6.5" warhorse:

Here is one from 1955 with John Culina stocks. It has taken 6 white-tail deer in Lampasas County.

I also have the box for this one,but no pic of them together. Reflection of leaves in the tree overhead give the impression of finish issues, but it's about as perfect as any I own.

Look like TH & TT? Original? I hear some people say the 6.5" length isn't rare but I spent 20 years looking for one. Finally paid way too much 3 years ago for one shipped in 1956 that letters with the red ramp and white outline sights.

My guess is that the Target Hammer is original, but the Target Trigger is most likely a replacement. The SN is S125066 and I would expect that it shipped somewhere in the late 1954 - early 1955 range. I think that is a bit early for the Target Trigger??? I have not lettered the gun (most likely never will), but I do like the configuration as it stands.
