Guys,
I am helping a friend of a friend sell some handguns. One is a K-38 Combat Masterpiece. Serial is K 240395 which dates to 1955.
Pros: Serial numbers on barrel, cylinder, extractor star match the serial on the butt. No pitting, strong bluing throughout most of gun. Lock up and timing are tight. Action is crisp with smooth double action.
Cons: Stocks are not original (PC Magnas from the '70s, i guess). Holster wear at muzzle (typical little triangles of missing bluing on each side). Paint on ramp front sight. The three screws visible on the sideplate have been buggered. Also, the screwdriver used was too large for the smaller diameter screws, causing a very slight bevel of the screw holes (oh, the insanity
). I did not remove the stocks. Lets assume that the screw under the right stock received the same treatment.
Overall, a nice revolver that was stored properly and functions well. Too bad about the grips and shade tree mechanic touch.
What should I tell him to expect as far as price, considering I put it here on the forum for sale? Doing little favors like this for friends, and friends of friends, keeps me in the loop if some really cool stuff surfaces.
I will try to post a couple of ****** cell phone shots of the gun.
I am estimating $275-$375. I would appreciate some thoughts from my forum buddies. Thanks guys.
