M&P pre model 10 4 inch shipping date
Hi everyone. I have a chance to buy a M&P pre model 10 4 inch on a local online auction. I have other M&Ps so I am only interested if the revolver was shipped sometime in 1950. I was born that year. The seller has posted pictures and the revolver looks correct for that era. I can't confirm the grips belonging to the revolver by serial number but again they look correct for those years. Here is the serial number. C107149. Please give me a shipping date.
Thanks.
Howard

Someone with a known shipping date close to yours will have to take a SWAG. My C567XX shipped July 13, 1949. It probably shipped in early 1950. BTW, non-members of Calguns.net cannot see the pictures unless they join that forum.

C107149 would probably have shipped around early 1950, maybe March or April. BUT, as S&W did not ship in SN order, it's probably safer to just say sometime in 1950. So I'd believe you are safe with it if you want a birthday gun. BTW, the grips are of the period-correct sharp shoulder Magna style.

Thanks again DWalt. Now I need to decide whether to pay $500 for a shooter grade M&P.

How badly do you want a Birthday gun? It's not that bad. I wouldn't go that high, but I don't care anything about having birthday guns.

I agree with you. My Avatar picture is one I only paid $275 back five years ago. So I am not going to paid $500 for a birthday revolver.

I must be cheap but the market for a pre-10 is around $250 to $300.
Now, If I could find a Combat Masterpiece in the 1950 area I might bite on that revolver. I once had a one in the 1952 area. Sadly, I sold it. Best revolver I ever had.
