Default Model I serial number dates

Does any body have the dates that the Model I was manufactured? I have serial number 400X and 28X and am curious as to the years of manufacture.

Thanks.

What is a Model I? Do you perhaps mean an I-Frame? Can you provide pictures?

jdowd,

Welcome aboard.

Presuming you mean Models built on the I frame, there's four possible models of I frame for those serial #s since they each had their own serial # ranges:

1st Model .32 Hand Ejector I frame began in 1896, ended 1903.
2nd Model .32 HE and .22/32 began in 1903.
.38 Regulation Police began in 1917
New Model .22/32 began over again in its own range in 1953

The last three serial # ranges all ended in 1968, although the models continued in new serial ranges that included a letter digit.

So it depends on which model you want to know about
