Default Pre Model 15 Combat Masterpiece

I am looking at a very nice Combat Masterpiece. Sorry I do not have the serial number or pictures at this time. The gun is probably in 98% condition and has correct style grips that are not numbered to the gun. The only problem with the gun is someone has put a social on the left side. know that it has no collector's value but what would be a fair price for his gun as a shooter? The gentleman wants $425 for it. Thanks for the help.

That's not a terrible price for a shooter, even if defaced with a SSN. But you can always offer less if you like it.

You mean he electro penciled his SSN on the side plate? If you can live with $425, go buy it. It would drive me nuts at any price. Just my opinion.

Just plan that when you sell it don't expect to get that much for it. It's a good shooter buy you may grow to hate it for that engraving.

Patience is the key I picked up a 4 screw in shooter grade about a year ago for $300. I would wait and find one without the ssn if you want a shooter I would personally prefer less finish and no ssn

For me, the SSN is a deal breaker.

If it doesn't bother you, offer up $350 and see if they bite.

It seems to be a fair price to me. Electropencil ticks me off, but remember that back when it was purchased a lot of folks did that just in case the gun was stolen....

Not too bad a price for a terrific shooting 38. You have some options with that social security number being etched into the sideplate and it will be something to consider.
According to Mr. Jink's book, your guns serial number shows a block of numbers K266165 to K288988 in 1956.
