Default Latest acquisitions - Pre-War HD and Post-war Outdoorsman

Hi all - I wanted to show off my latest acquisitions.

First is a pre-war Heavy Duty S/N 45122. Mechanically good. Blue has some freckling. I think this puts it about 1934. Paid $600 for it after all commissions, etc.

The second is a Post -war transitional Outdoorsman. Lots of holster wear, but mechanically very nice and mirror-like chambers and bore. S/N is S 70925, which I think puts it about 1947? Obviously wrong stocks, but I have located a pair of correct ones through a forum member here. I paid $700 after all expenses, which may have been a bit high as the stocks are going to cost me a bit.

Thanks for looking. Comments welcome!

Jim

Great specimens both. Some of us think the transitional OD was the best .38 Special target revolver ever produced.

S70791 shipped in September 1946. Actually, most of the OD transitionals seem to have shipped in 1946. While a lot of them are guess-dated to 1947, the ones for which shipping dates (or months) are actually known tend to pile up in the earlier year. Very few dated ODs come back with a solid 1947 date.

My Outdoorsman is SN S79810.
I didn't pay quite as much as you did,
But I bought mine in 1964.
