Default Ladysmith values

Looking for a ballpark value on what I think is a 3rd model Ladysmith. Forcing come looks good, numbers match on butt, cylinder face, under barrel but that's all numbers I have right now. Appear to be factory Pearl grips, and factory finish. Serial 1928X.

My uneducated guess would be around $450-500 could be more to the right individual as ones without damage to the forcing are not often seen.

I would guess 2-3 times that amount, but just my $.02. Wait awhile, there are some very informed collectors of these here that can give you the real value and tell you all about what you have.

I haven't priced these recently, but a couple of years ago bad guns were bringing over 300 and mediocre guns 500. I would guess the one posted above is 900 at a minimum and more than that in some markets.

I am more than willing to be educated if the market for these has gone one way or the other while I was not paying attention.

I would pay a bit over grand for an example like that.

What they said. Those are tough guns to find in any condition you can stand to look at. Your gun looks pretty nice for the model.

The Ladysmith, not to be confused with the newer LadySmith revolvers and semi autos is a very collectible S&W. IIRC there were less than 25,000 made in the early 1900's thus making pristine examples difficult to find. There are many "rats" out there and most have chipped or broker forcing cones.

The rough examples will typically bring $500 up with mint examples going for $1,500 to $2,500.

If in fact your gun has an intact forcing cone, I would agree with those that think that this gun is worth somewhere in the $1,000 neighborhood. Unfortunately, like most things in life, you must find the right buyer that is looking for an example of this model and has the cash to spend.

PS: I had to go check but I just bought a first model in decent shape about 4 months ago for a little over $700. I thought that it was a great bargain.

Jeff, I have one in just a little bit better shape that I paid $1000 for.

I would agree that this is a $1000 to 1200 piece.
