Somewhere, I have an original 1939 Stoeger's Shooters Bible, and it has pages of information for about every gun available at the time. I'll look for it and if I can find it, I'll scan some of the more interesting contents.

Typeface looks like what the American Rifleman used back then.

I spent more time looking through the guns for sale around the ad.

The one that got my attention is the Winchester M 52 Sporter that was 'like new' with all sorts of extras ......for $60. I know that a lot of people were working jobs for $60 per week then, but my gosh. What if my Dad had spotted this ad and bought this M 52 Sporter instead of the Winchester M 12, 20 ga. that he did buy for me? The mind boggles.......

Based upon CPI from 1939 to 2016 increasing by a factor of 17, those guns cost $450 and $600 in today's dollars...not cheap. The $20 Krag mentioned elsewhere would be $340.

...I'd definitely come up with the money...a bargain for those two revolvers...even in today's money...
