does precious little to promote domestic tranquility.

I've gawked at the numerous .38/44 Outdoorsm[e]n posted on the site and could not resist adding one to my small family of Smiths. Would've been nice if one of y'all had warned me about the going rates of said family members.

After losing several auctions I finally landed a Model of 1950. Shooter grade, but she's mine.

Back to the domestic front: wife asks about the surprise and significant charge on our debit card.

"Back to school supplies for the kids," said I.

"Some kid."

Thanks. Has a spot of pitting on the cylinder, however, and a small scratch on the barrel. PO also filed down the front sight blade (grr). Trying to find replacement now.

All the numbers match, though, including the stocks.

Let me know if you can't find a blade. I may have one that fits.

Normally, I turn down those requests without a second thought. But since you're a forum member, then....

Yeah, this happens about once a month with my wife and I. Except I use lines like " the Camaro needed a clutch".... And so forth.

Nice looking revolver. Haven't bought a handgun in a long long time. Expecting a Browning high power either this week or the next. Used my slush fund for this one.Frank

Nice gun. You did good. Just tell the wife to not worry about it because the only thing she knows is how to get a good husband. Larry

Not sure which is the tougher sell: I'm a good husband or we really needed this revolver!

In her eyes, the two of them are probably connected...and I'm not sure the connection strengthens your independent argument on either point.

But, I know for a fact that a dozen roses and a foot rub will go a long way in helping her feel better about her choice of husbands. ...Unfortunately, I don't thing it goes very far in helping her believe that you needed another gun ... "that looks just like the ones that you already have..."

Christmas present, I'll wrap it up and you can put it under the tree for me , I'm so considerate !

Birthday present , I did the shopping for you...aren't I thoughtful.

Father's day gift....I know you would not know what color to buy , so I did it for you .

You have to make it seem like you are doing it so she wont have to go to all the trouble of finding you that just right gift !

Given the sympathetic responses, it is obvious you gentlemen routinely land in hot water with your spouses over similar purchases.

Misery loves company; glad to be in good hands.

Incidentally, on the gift ideas posted: some Christmases ago I wrapped "for her" a 98% 36-1 I snagged for a song. To my eternal amazement she opened it, smiled... and kept the damn thing!

So far I've scored two NOE moulds using the gift giving method, I was amazed how easily she agreed to my taking that shopping chore off her "must do" list !
Next Christmas I'm looking at a NOE "Elmer Keith" signature mould that Santa can leave under the tree for me.
