The absolute pinnacle of the gun-making art. Seeing and reading about firearms like this is the exact reason my son and I joined this forum.

This was my exact thought! He must have gotten a grail gun inlaid in diamonds and rubies with Horace Smith's and DB Wesson's autographs personally engraved in platinum carried in a gold presentation case lined with the original golden fleece and having an unobtainium monogram on top. I STILL would have asked for some boot!

I guess I'll settle for the one I have, not as nice as yours.

That is a beauty with just the right amount of silver in all the right places! I love the King Super Targets and I smile the big smile whenever anyone posts photos of theirs. Also, I think the Super Targets are the perfect place to mount a set of Thumbrest Ropers.
Thanks for sharing,

I wonder why there are so many more K frame super targets than N frame?
Was the N frame too heavy for one handed shooting?
Also is the rail for the N frame larger in size than the K frame or did they use the same rail for both frames?
Thanks

Yes it is. If you look closely at the 1st and 3rd photos, you can see the cockeyed "tab" extended on the left side of the hammer.

I love the King Super Targets, and those Smiths are down right sexy. I agree that the King mods to revolvers were the pinnacle of gun customizing and craftsmanship back in a time when quality was king, pun intended.
I own a couple guns that got their design from the Super Target and have most of the features everyone is going crazy over. I carry one everyday. Makes me wonder why they are so frowned upon over here now.

Are you talking about one of these King Super Target knockoffs?
I personally love the looks and the finish on the Colts, but the thumb release, the simplicity of the mechanical design, the unbeveled front of the full under lug, and the action just don't measure up to the functional usefulness of the S&Ws. However, the ribbed sight plane, the double cockeyed hammer and the micrometer sight on the Pythons are way cool in a very King kind of way.

BTW for those interested...
There is a Colt .357 Super Target on a rather large auction site right now
from the Alabama gang.
that was shipped in 1938 to King for the work. complete with factory
letter.
Big money.

Delightful.
Looking at King revolvers is a breath of fresh air.
I shoot mostly automatics, so I follow a lot of the 1911 stuff.
A period 1911 or G.M. fixed up that way would give the collectors and speculators apoplexy.
Was there anybody else doing comparable work?
I know Ken Waters did a Pet Loads with a revolver equipped with Roper sights.
