Default I love eBay

Over the years eBay has been very good to me. Here's what I discovered last week that was delivered today

Smith Wesson Pistol Grips | eBay

Both sets are N frame and in excellent condition.

PLEASE POST SOME OF YOUR EBAY SCORES!

I don't have a photo handy, but I scored a Model 2 Army off eBay quite a few years back. It was one of the last firearms sold on eBay before they went anti-gun.

Contender barrels, grips, Tyler T adapters, vintage car parts, wow, I could go on all night long. One thing I do (probably shouldn't reveal my secrets) is to look for items that are misspelled and don't show up in a normal search. I found that out by accident when I misspelled Contender (Contnder) and lo-and-behold so did the poster. I scored a nice .44 mag barrel for $118 because no one else saw the auction. Another time I was shopping for a pair of hames (part of a harness) and found a set misspelled haimes; got those for $15 instead of about $90. I love Ebay!

Not everybody's cup of tea, but for $12, I'm in love with these bakelite stocks.

$76 fleece lined Heiser flap.

Model 1899, NOS 5" Target barrel. 38 spl.

Yeah, you just beat me out of that listing by seconds. eBay can be a very good resource for finding parts but also vintage posters, ads, books, and pamphlets. Always in the hunt. Good luck!

Sheep horn grips for an old model Ruger SBH. $125...

$16 early Arvo Ojala holster. Cleaned up pretty good...

$94 Sambar stags for an unknown gun, but I thought they were Colt and they were. I had to stain the bark area with brown leather dye on the left side...

Rambo's brother Frank Stallone put his Alfonso rig for sale. He's the guy Val Kilmer knifed at the card table in Tombstone. Doubled my money on this one...

I got these rosewoods for $40 off ebay cause they had a few chips on the bottom edge. I swear this is true, the seller sent me a $20 bill with a note that they were not worth $40.

In addition to the Magna and Target grips I've bought on EBay, I bought these Mustang grips. Not too impressive, btw.

I've also bought serving bowls, platters and cups to complete our everyday China, the pattern for which has been discontinued by the manufacturer, Lenox.

Gee, I hope I haven't destroyed my carefully crafted forum image with that revelation.

I also love ebay. Lots of people despise it, but I don't know why. You can get great things on there for fraction of real or retail value.

I have bought whole wardrobes from there, some of the stuff was USA made Levis from the day that was great unused condition for less than they were new.

To keep it gun related, I have bought many Colt DA and SAA parts from there mega dirt cheap. It all has to do with identifying what is worthwhile when others can't. I did a whole thread on Colt DA parts identification based entirely on my ebay scores.

Politically, it is anti-2A. Major reason for disliking it.

As a poster recalled above, there was once a time you could buy guns on ebay.

As I hate to shop, in stores, I’ve always used Internet shopping whenever I can. So I’ve purchased a number of items from E-bay. I’ve always had good service and products. I recently purchased a Hoyt brand holster for a 2 ˝” M-19 priced at $65.00.

The only thing I’m getting to hate with E-bay is the, close to, harassment to leave stellar feedback for every seller. I recently had to explain to one seller that I did not believe that everyone should get a “trophy” for doing their job. We ended it on a positive note, but it took several exchanges.

I picked up these early sharp shoulder N frame diamond mag-
nas on Ebay a couple of years ago for my nickel 1950 pre-27
that didn't come with it's original grips. These grips were really
messed up with nicks, gouges, and a funky finish. I sent them
to DWFAN and he cleaned them up. These grips do not have
any serial number stamped on the right panel, and according
to DWFAN were probably factory replacements.

I needed a holster for a recently acquired factory nickel Model 10-5. This one was on eBay for $5.00 plus $5.00 shipping. It is a great fit for the revolver. Looks like new and a bargain in my opinion for the price. I was not familiar with Jay-Pee but happy I took the risk.

Total investment for holster and gun is $264.20. Yes, I am bragging.

Pair of early K-targets made of birds eye maple from ebay. Probably the rarest set of stocks I have purchased on that site. Three books of matches from the late 50s featuring the 44 Magnum.

I understand y'all like a bargain, and I do, too, and perhaps sometimes you just can't find something you need without resorting to ebay, BUT...doesn't it irk y'all at least the slightest bit that you are patronizing a company that is vehemently and venemously VERY anti-second-amendment?????

I know an older gentleman who works a gun shop after 2 LEO jobs. Loves guns and gun people. He's been married to a nice lady who thinks all guns should be removed from our country.
They've been married for 38 years.

Yes. it irks me. The stone ignorant cashiers at What-a-buger irk me. For the most part I avoid spending money with businesses that are anti-2A. The point I want to make is that I also try not to cut my nose of to spite my face. If I can find a better than good price on something I want/need and it will prevent me from having to deal with some almost brain dead store clerk, then e-bay it is. If I have to suffer through being irked by the drive-thru fast food worker to get my Thick & Hearty burger fix then so be it. Lot's of things irk me most I can avoid some I can't. hardcase60

It does irk me a little bit. But as long as they keep offering the market place for vintage gun boxes, grips/stocks, cases, parts, etc... I will continue to shop there and actively PROTEST their position by logging on daily, performing gun related searches and making regular purchases of gun related products. Another perspective, I have family members that have significantly different beliefs on how the 2A is interpreted - I consider them misinformed BUT I still love them and hang out with them as often as our schedules permit.

BTW - I've picked up some great things on ebay over the years - many of which I have overpaid for... but nonetheless very much enjoy.

I just don't get it Ebay sells all kinds of gun parts ,they sell books on how to make explosive devies they just don't sell guns . One of the best 1911 forums won't allow gun sales ,but sells gun parts are they anti gun ? . pay pall friends and family has helped me purchase a few guns without me or the seller having to pay a fee .Just don't mention payment for a fire arm . Ebay and paypals are linked at the waist, and the N.R.A. uses them as a way to pay your dues.Sometimes we almost act like the Anties by not thinking some things out.

Not just gun and shooting stuff, but many times I have found things on eBay I couldn't get anywhere else. One outstanding example was a part for our old Kenmore electric clothes dryer, which is about 45 years old. Without it, I would need to buy a new dryer. I tried everywhere - local appliance parts stores, Sears, internet, everywhere - no luck, it hadn't been made for over 20 years, and no substitutes. I didn't even think of eBay at first, but when I tried it as a last resort, I found the exact part I needed, NOS, still in the box for $20. That was about two years ago, no problems since. Saved me the cost of a new dryer.

No complaints from my wife, she loves that old Kenmore and doesn't want a new dryer.

I decided many years ago to cut Ebay some slack for not letting guns be sold through their marketplace. Remember that they're based in CA, the best state in the country to get sued for anything any plaintiff's lawyer can dream up. It is reasonable to assume that almost ANY gun that was sold through Ebay and ended up being used in a crime would result in a lawsuit against Ebay. Every lawsuit costs money to defend, even if you win in the early stages. The plaintiffs themselves are usually penniless, so even if you get a judge to throw a case out and could make a claim for your litigation expenses (such claims are not always available), the reality is that you'll never recover any of your defense costs.

If you were a director of Ebay, it is almost certain that as a business matter you too would decide not to let guns be sold through the Ebay system, regardless of your personal position on the Second Amendment. If Ebay were a widely held company at the time you were making the decision, you probably have a legal duty to not allow gun sales, given the significant financial risk to the company that such sales would pose.

So - I still use Ebay, as both a buyer and seller, of gun related stuff and other stuff. If I want to buy a gun that's not available at my LGS, I just go to Gunbroker. Or GunsAmerica. Or Buds. Or any of the dozens of other online firearm sources that I've bookmarked over the years.

They did allow gun sales when they first started. Fear of liability issues stopped them in the late 80's.

Bruce, eBay opened on Sept 3, 1995. Must have been the late '90s.

You're absolutely right.....I didn't start using ebay until about '97 or '98.

Bruce

I'm not sure if Al Gore and I had even invented the internet yet in the 80's.

I thought I would share what I would consider a score from the good old e-bay. These were listed as J frame and then someone educated the seller about their actual identification, but that didn't seem to reflect in the number of confident bidders. I scored these for $300 which I think was an absolute bargain once I received them in the mail. These are some of the nicest N frame of this style that I have seen and they are absolutely 99% condition.

Very nice Daniel. I was watching those and scored some other things from the seller. They are very nice and unnumbered. Not a huge score margin-wise but a very nice set of stocks that you don't see often

Kris,

You are correct, not much left margin wise. However, these were purchased as keepers for a factory refinished 44 2nd model so the price was excellent considering. I'll have to post some pics with them on the gun.

Steve,

As requested, they look better still on the gun.

Also, as I posted pics of the grips acquired above and mentioned how they were listed as J frame. I thought I would bring up another e-bay auction I saw end yesterday where I believe the grips were listed incorrectly. Anyone else see these? They sure fetched a bunch of money for what I believe were actually just K frame magnas. I couldn't help but think if there were people bidding on these believing they were transitional N frame magnas. I think they'll be disappointed if that's what they thought they paid for, although maybe sharp shoulder K frame magnas are this expensive these days.

Smith & Wesson S&W Walnut Diamond Magnas Grips N Frame Pre-Model 29

While that auction was winding down I was able to snag these at a buy it now. I also think these were listed incorrectly as K frame, as I think they'll likely fit an N frame. And of course, they are not Ropers but likely Sanderson's.
