Looking for approx ship year for "C" prefix .38 M&P?
I'm considering a post-war M&P (or are they not called post-war after the "C" sn began?).
Here's what I know:
C155XXX
Bright blue
5"
half penny front sight (fixed rear, obviously)
thumb latch resembles a Victory latch
square butt
5-screw, plus the 6th -- strain screw
.38 S&W Special CTG.
Diamond magnas
numbers match
Thanks for an educated guess as to when this left the factory.
Bob

Thanks DWalt & SDH. Those two certainly help narrow it down, although I'm well aware Smith didn't follow sn order for shipping.
That helps. Thanks.

Regarding "Post-WWII" I personally consider the boundary for K-frames is when the change from the long action to the short action occurred in the S990xxx range, i.e. those which shipped after about March 1948.

Ah, the long-to-short action change seems to be a logical point to change from the post-war era M&Ps. Thanks.
