Default Older 38 Special

My father bought a SW 28 Special, 6 inch bbl. has bone grips and in very good condition. He purchased the revolver in 1943 from a guy being drafted. I wonder how much it might be worth today.

Since he bought it used, when he bought the gun really does not help us here at all. Assuming it's a .38 Special, depending on model, year, rarity, originality and condition the value could still vary by several hundred dollars. At a minimum we'd need the serial and some decent photos.

You are asking a question sort of like "We have this old car. What is it and what's it worth?" There's a lot more information required before it can be answered.

Way too little information.

Detailed photographs will get things started.

Welcome to the Forum Mr. Beargrass! We always need new members so I hope you stick around.

No offense meant by any of us. You have to remember that Smith & Wesson revolver manufacturing spans three centuries. Many different models were chambered for .38 Special. So a very detailed description, or better still pictures, are a must.
