Thanks.
As soon I sniffed where this might go, I got excited to verify it and uncover more, because that man's substantial provenance really deserved to be put together with that materiel.
Al and his wife's combined family tree was another interesting story traced back to the Puritan's escaping Britain to America for religious freedom, and leading to generations of prominence in early colonial times.

How could you not, when you see the guns original owner shooting with his buddy Garand? Heck, Garand might have shot it too!

Hi
Here is some more information on the Spring field revolver club.
I have two guns from members of the club. Dr. I.R. Calkins a Triple lock 091 shipped in 1906 and a colt woodsman. A 4 inch prewar 32 long Target shipped to John Dietz.
I will post more pictures. both of these gentlemen shot in the Olympics .

I ran across this thread just now. Have read through it twice and have to say that this is about the most interesting and historically significant texts ever. Many thanks to the OP and to the other members for all the research that was contributed.
Almost a miracle to have come across these guns. Something that may have been relegated to a backroom or attic and never seen again. What a great team effort to solve the mystery.
I love it. Thanks again to all.

Howdy again Kris,
Was looking again (I know, I know ), and your comment about the glasses caught my eye. It appears those are homemade peephole shooting glasses. The darkened lens has a small orifice that aligns with the shooters pupil. Aiming through this orifice is like stopping down a camera lens. It greatly expands the focus depth of field, like using a Marbles tang sight on a rifle.
So whatcha gonna do for an encore?

Kris, Wow ! .... just Wow !
Finally had a chance to sit down and read through this on the big screen, instead of just perusing on my phone as I normally do.
What a package. This is certainly museum quality. The back story is incredible. Hope to see more in the Journal soon.
Regards,
Bruce

How did I miss this thread when it first appeared? I stumbled across it now only because I was chasing down confirmations for K-32 First Models and this turned up. Amazing finds! I offer my much belated congratulations on making these history-rich acquisitions.
