LGS End of year sale!!
My favorite LGS has its' annual inventory sale. It was a pretty good day.
I grabbed this pre-model 10 from the late '40s (C 804xx) issued by the National Police in Colombia:
I also got an old Stevens 94 12 gauge for $20!!
.........this one came home too!!
What is it worth? DOB? *** It is a Model 31-1***
Best,
Charles

I love project guns. It really feels good when you get them back into shape.

You've got some work to do on that pistol. It's got the satin finish and will be much easier to restore. Correct grips will be a bit hard to find and not cheap when you do. The thumb latch is a pretty common part and should be no problem. The shotgun??? I don't know about that, but it didn't cost you anything. I would be tempted to fix it up as best you can and give it to some kid who will have a lot of fun with it.

Does Georgia have Ad Valorum taxes on firearms? I remember when I was in the Army down there you could get some sweet deals on cars at this time of year. The lot owners didn't want to pay the Ad Valorum tax.

Doc,
Actuallly the opposite is proving to be the case. I have several sets of the correct diamond stocks. However, finding a thumbpiece that fits is a little more difficult. Apparently, the design changed several times.......

As usual, you have come up with a great project. That Columbian S&W fits right into your collecting niche!! We need to see it when you have it sparkling again!
Best Regards, Les

I have bought a few guns in January and February almost at cost from sellers on GB and GA. GA buy it now is usually the better of the two sites to get at cost buys.
I believe many LGS online are possibly dumping some over bought inventory in these two months.

Oh, yeah.
Much better than those galoshes.
There's something really special about a cleaned-up M&P!
Nice,
Bob

Agreed! I'll post some "after" pics when I get the correct latch.

I'd be interested in where you find that latch.
My sis in law has a war time Victory that needs one.
