Here is an example of one I paid more than I could get for it simply because I wanted it . The Rossi model 25 Princess cost me $250 the box off Ebay was $15 these don't bring much but I wanted one to go with my Lady Smith model M. Now you must have known you overpaid or you would haven't titled your post as you did. What I do and I am sure others do too before they buy is to use the sold listings on GB as a benchmark for what a fair price might be. Enjoy your model 17 they are great guns.

You bought a gun that with luck, your great grandkids will be able to shoot and enjoy.

What's that worth?

I found the website, and took a gander at your new gun.

If I had made that purchase, I'd be pretty happy about it.

Congratulations on obtaining a beautiful old revolver!

We'll need a range report!

Default A Different Opinion

Between late 2012 and mid 2015, I acquired the collection of S&W no lock revolvers I wanted. I consistently paid $100 to $200 too much or bought 9 months to 1 year early according to this Forum.

Now today, I could not afford to buy those revolvers because of the increase in prices for pre-lock S&W revolvers. About every 3 months a no-lock shows up on the Cabela shelf in Augusta, GA for 25% more than Gun Broker.

You wanted your M17, you could afford to buy it, now quit worrying what somebody else thinks. It was YOUR checkbook. It is far better to have the gun in hand, than regret not buying it for the next 4 years waiting for the next one to appear at a lower price.

EDIT: [Post #62 & #64] For that M17, the value can only increase, the craftsmanship is superb, and many on this Forum dream of owning one but can't get past the "too high price". Dreams and quality cost a little extra. Congratulations on owning your dream.

This is a case of not enough info, a picture or several is worth a lot what you have is a K22 with 3 T's a beautiful gun not the garden variety K22 they are all great but yours is special. I would think if you overpaid it wasn't by much.

Default Paid too much

If I'm looking at the correct site and it's a 4 screw with dark targets. That's as nice a K22 Masterpiece as they come. Well done

Welcome you will be better served to start a new thread with pictures and serial number from the butt of the grip frame. The value can be anywhere between$100 poor condition and perhaps over $1000 for one new in the box good clear pictures are a must.

I would have never posted that. Stealing is against the law; anywhere - anytime... And a receipt to boot. What caliber did you point at the guy who "sold" it to you?

I paid $600 2 years ago for a 85-90%?K-22 Smith gun about 195x. No box or anything else.
Like someone above said in two years it won't matter at all. Enjoy the 99%, there will only be less each year.
I have many Smith Revolvers and will try to pass them onto my kids and grandkids as investments.
I never want to sell a good smith revolver if I can keep them. They are so beautiful and every once in
awhile, one of our compadres on here post pictures which make me want to get more.
As a Smith revolver collector, i am not responsible for my actions sometimes after i look at the pictures of you guys holdings. I want more.LOL!

If this is indeed the OP's new K22, I HATE to break it to you but you did pay too much. That gun has been refinished by the factory. The logo on that gun should be on the side plate and not the left side under the thumb piece. That small logo, like they use to use on the left side during the 80s, was placed there after the refinish.

Your frame more than likely has a refinish stamp and date code, unless it was done after that practice was abandoned.

Sorry.........

Oh, just pretend like like you bought it at Gander Mtn., or Cabela's.

I'm sure if I went to one right now I could find your gun for a similar price.

Just went and looked at my 57 K-22 (no Model #) the logo is on the side plate not the left side.

I have had more remorse over guns I let get away because I thought the price was a little too high than any guy I own that I might have paid too much for.

You have it now. If you want to feel real good about it, in two years come back and ask what it's worth.

I have posted before, and know from experience - you never pay too much, you may buy too early.

Just trust me on this.
