These three threads are very humbling! When I think I've found a nice old S&W, along comes these three highly unique guns with both fantastic condition and backstories. Bravo!

The paperwork says 6 inch barrel. Did it go back for a barrel change?

Good eye Tony!! I didn't even notice this I was so focused on the A White Grips on the pre 27. I think it is a mistake on the paperwork because the gun looks original and unfired. I was also all over the Gun Digest provenance. I will take a closer look when I get it back to the "Vault".

I'd be curious what the result of a letter would reveal. Seems like this type of document may be where the historical information is drawn from. It certainly looks totally factory intact.
