Default Trying to identify old S&W

It's old hand ejector, serial #7765xx
5 screw with strain screw
barrel measures 2 3/8"
fixed sight
no marking on the barrel but it will chamber 38 spl
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Does the ejector rod have a front locking mount under the barrel? The reason I ask is because it's in the serial number range for British service revolvers which chambered for 38 S&W not 38 Special. After the war, a lot were modified cutting off the barrel and the front under lug where the ejector Rod docks. It's possible that your gun is like that. A picture would help.

No it does not have a under lug.

Then it's a modified British service revolver that was originally chambered for 38 S&W.
