Default Just Another Model 10

When I culled my herd, I told myself I didn't "need" or even "want" a Model 10 anymore. I had a nice Model 15, a couple of 19's and such, so why have a Model 10?

Well, because it's a Model 10. This one, a 10 no dash, four screw, from 1960 must have been pretty much a "sock drawer" gun. It had rust/pitted spots on the left side, and on one flute of the cylinder. Other than those, it looks pretty good.

The rust had left some bare spots on the left side, and the cylinder that really jumped out, so I hit them with a cold blue pen. They still stand out, but not as bad as white metal. The photo makes them look worse than they do

The diamond magna grips (number to the gun) were in pretty good shape, so I put them into storage, and replaced them with a set of Pachmayr Grippers I found in a junk drawer.

It'll be a good nightstand gun.

You know, back in October I sold my 4" 10-5 standard barrel at the Court Days in Mt. Sterling, KY. It benefited me because it then gave me the funds to purchase a nice, hardly fired 686-6+ snub later that day at Bud's. But I have been finding myself perusing model 10's, among others, on GB lately. A fellow had a 10-8 for sale in the classifieds here that I was seriously mulling over but it got sold. I'm probably going to end up getting another model 10, but I may look for a heavy barrel. I'm curious what you paid for yours? Some bronze wool & oil on a rainy weekend might really bring that girl back to life.

Excellent nightstand gun. Very nice grips - I'd leave them on. They won't wear out in a nice cushy nightstand.
