Default Post War Pre-Model 10

Won a nice looking, according to auction pictures, of subject revolver this morning. The serial number is S824638. I know this puts it at between 1945 to 1948.

I am hoping someone can help me narrow down the production period. My birth year is 1947 and hoping I got lucky. Either way I was lucky since it came with a S&W .455 Triple Lock.

One of these batched together auction lots. I dislike them batched together but maybe not in this case.

S8638XX shipped January 8, 1947.
Probably a late 1946 ship date on yours.

Well, you are in luck. That one is actually in my database. It shipped in May, 1946.

I guess that's 7 or 8 months too early for you, but it is what it is.

That gun birthday falls 9 months prior to your birthday. It is a CONCEPTION DAY gun. How about that? I think this is what Jim was hinting at in his post.
