Default I'm the next caretaker of this 6.5" Pre War 38-44 Heavy Duty!

Life's been very busy for me lately and it's been a while since I've posted on the forum, or added something to my collection.

That all changed when I received an email this past November from a well known member of this forum. In the email, I was offered the opportunity to be the next caretaker of this scarce and great gun, a pre war 6.5" 38-44 Heavy Duty.
The pre war 6.5 HD was never catalogued so the only way you got one was by special order. There were only 88 pre war 6.5" barreled HD's made, with 34 of them going to Mexico. This is one of only 16 known to exist and was shipped to Cook Sporting Goods in Denver Colorado on December 28, 1938 and was billed at $24.56

Along with the gun came a seldom seen pre war maroon box, and a homemade presentation case which looks to have been made out of an old cigar box. The person who made the presentation case used wood which was cut to fit the gun, along with a box of ammo. the wood was then covered with green felt. I added the vintage box of Peters 38 special until I find a pre war box of 38-44 ammo to replace it with.

To say I'm thrilled to be the next caretaker of this great gun would be an understatement!

A clue for who the previous caretaker was..

Wow! She is a real beauty. To be the current care giver for that has to be an honor. Looking at her in the original box and my first thought is "wrap her up carefully so the box doesn't scratch that finish". Congrats!

Really nice Heavy Duty! Also like the sock, it's the trademark of a great guy.

Rick,
Also of note, the prewar 6.5 HD was never catalogued so the only way you got one was by special order.

For those wondering, YES! I will shoot it!!
I've made a career change and I work at a gun shop / shooting range so getting to the range to shoot is as simple as going to work!!
