Default Question regarding 38/44 heavy duty

I am looking to purchase a 38/44 pre war. I have seen some with a large S&W logo on the right side panel and some have a small S&W logo on the left side panel. Was there a time frame of when they were changed or any significance of one or the other. It does seem as if all post war pistols have the large logo. Thanks in advance for your help.

If I found one with the large medallions, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I may have been confusing. I was referring to the logos on the side of the receiver not the grips though the information on the grips is helpful as I am trying to educate myself as much as possible on these revolvers. So again the question is about the S&W logos on the side of the receiver.

Ooohhh. No, you were clear. My reading comprehension is sub-par.

Never mind, then. You will need the real experts to give you guidance on the engraved logos. Mine is large logo on the right side of the gun. It dates to 1941.

The large logo moved from the left side to the sideplate in 1936, IIRC.
