Default Need infro/help 4screw M29

I'm buying a M29 4 screw 6" nickel from a friend. Condition is a strong 90%. But it has Pac grips,he can't find the wood ones. Is $1000 a fair price? Are the right grips hard to find? What do they look like,do they have the diamond around the screw hole? Thanks for any help you can give me. Randall

When you say M29, the question is which M29. Could be several. If you provide a SN, a better identification can be made. A picture or two would also help. For the gun itself, $1000 is on the high side, especially lacking the original grips, which can add substantially to its value - unless it is in exceptional condition, and if it is a pre-29. 90% is not exceptional condition.

Default Nickel Magnum

Description and barrel length don't match--if it's a 4 screw, should be 6 1/2"--impossible to judge value without more information. Serial number and pictures would be helpful.

Pictures would be the best way to get a judgement on value.
Is it stamped Mod 29 on the frame under the yoke? And as DWalt stated, the SN is important to answering your query.
Also, the correct grips would probably be the "Coke" bottle diamond center style, which can be very difficult to find, and when you do, they're expensive, i.e. $500.00 and up.

The first N-frame with model numbers was at about SN S183xxx in around late 1958-early 1959, and the top sideplate screw was eliminated shortly before that (making it a 4-screw). The version (29, 29-1, 29-2, 29-3, etc.) will be stamped inside the yoke, and that is important. The last model with a pinned barrel and recessed chambers is the 29-2, but all 29-2s were three screws. Therefore, if yours is truly a 4-screw, it must be a 29 or a 29-1. The latter is rare.

44 Magnums with a 4-screw frame an nickel finish are scarce and one in 90 percent, even without the correct stocks, would be work $1,000 in my opinion. Coke bottle stocks are correct for your Model 29 and in decent shape will cost $400-$600. The photo below shows the stocks that are correct for your Magnum.
