Default Date of a pre k22?

Hi folks
I found a pre k22 with serial number 63500x.
It's about 85% condition.

And idea of year it was shipped and approx value?
Thanks!

Welcome! It is likely an early (1931-'32) K-22 Outdoorsman. As you describe it, probably a $750 gun? Photos would help for a more accurate estimate.

Before others chime in, it doesn't fall under the "antique" category and it really is a K-22, just not a later K-22 Masterpiece. Hope this is helpful.

Welcome to the forum.

As Alan stated you have an early .22 built on the K frame referred to as an Outdoorsmen's. Prior to this, the big .22 revolver was the .22/.32 HFT which was a .22 built on the I frame normally reserved for the larger .32 caliber guns.

When S&W decided to build a .22 on the K frame, it pretty much killed the sales of the .22/.32 HFT and most of the .22/.32's built thereafter were a 4" barreled gun referred to by S&W as the "kit" gun.

Ok so it's a early gun, when did they start producing these?
I'm looking to possibly buy it!

Joseph,
You have an early K22 outdoorsman. . Manufacture began on these in Jan 1931 with SN 632132. I have two, SN 633xxx and 639XXX both shipped in 1931 and the one you are considering is most likely 1931.
Value is dependent on condition. I've seen very nice ones in this period go for 1000+.
