Default Postwar 22-32 kit gun

A good friend of mine called me the other day from our LGS and told me about a kit gun that they had taken in that was in excellent condition. I went and looked at it and I decided to snag it. I have a 2" kit gun from the same period so the 4" will fit right in. They also had 2 series 2 Detective specials in mint condition minus the boxes and documents. The owner gave me a good price if I took all three so I agreed. The 2" kit gun is from 1954 with a soft blue finish. The 4" gun is most likely from 1955 and it has a high polish finish. Sometime between serial 9XXX and 18XXX they started to use the high polish finish.

Nice!
My wife and I both like the Kit Guns a lot. Between us we have been accumulating a nice collection of them. What I still lack is what you just found - a Model of 1953, 4" round butt. I have some 4" Kit Guns, but all of them are J frame. I am still looking for a nice example of the non-model marked I frame with a 4" barrel. I'm glad you were able to acquire one. I'm sure my turn will come eventually.

Here's a picture of a couple of mine.

Bill,

Congrats! Gorgeous pick up.

Two very sweet New I frames!

In my database #16654 is the highest satin finish and your #18231 is the earliest bright blue.
