Handejector 2nd. model
At LGS today and in the case he has a .44 special Handejector 2nd model.Looked like a 6-61/2" barrel.Alot of blue off the barrel but frame looked decent and the screw heads looked good too.I am a model 29 and auto guy so i have no clue about these but eager to learn.Has a price of $1250 on it.I know with this limited info and no pics this is tough but where do I start? Any info is appreciated on what to look for as well as what to stay away from.Thanks guys.

No one can say much about fair pricing with authority without more information and pictures. But from your description I'd think that it is somewhat overpriced at $1250.

We really need pictures in order to be of much help. I can offer some information about one specific purchase which may help some. This one (five inch sn 21146 from 1923) is finish challenged but no pitting. Reasonably tight and shoots well. I paid $475 for it a couple years ago but without period stocks. Bought the stocks pictured later for another $175. I would think $1250 is high but if it has original finish and original stocks (right inside panel should be numbered but probably in pencil so hard to see) maybe not too far out of line. Don't see these every day where I shop so you may not see another right away. Be aware, correct stocks depend on the time period of gun manufacture; not all will be correct with the ones shown. Get some pictures and the folks here can give you a good assessment. Good luck.

Thankyou for the info guys.I know it's limited info and without pics very hard to know condition,correct grips etc... I don't even know yet if it has the original box,papers.I'll get more info and pics.Thankyou

I bought the 2nd at a pawn shop in MS a few years ago. Sticker was $1000, I offered $500 OTD and they took it. The period correct stocks came with the TLT.

Gave $375 for my second model at auction about 3 weeks ago.
Built on leftover 1917 frame.
Saw a 6.5" in 95% at LGS with aftermarket MOP stocks. After I offered $1800, he decided to become a Smith collector.

Someone once said about Colts that they only paid too much for it at that particular time or something like that...I know I've paid way too much for something that I wanted at the time. It always seems to be that if I am looking for something, whatever it is never seems to turn up and then one day here comes what I'm looking for and it just happens to be terrific looking but has a very high price attached. I got to have it and use the excuse that "Its what I've been looking for." I pay the money and am happy with the results and then like just the other day I just happen to punch in the item on Gunbroker and its like they were having a Saturday Sale on a couple of them for at least half the price I paid...so what do I do? I start bidding on a couple of the items and bail when they hit a fairly high mark...then when they sell, they sell for less than I paid and one of them had factory COKES....Go FFFF Figure!

I forgot to mention, I paid $1150 for that TLT at The Nations Gun Show last year. It's been reblued and the rear sight is not original which is what I figure drove the price down.
The 2nd is a 1917 frame, some serious character in the finish, but shoots very well. I replaced the mainspring due to light strikes in double action.

Bob, This is a Gunbroker auction 5" 44HE 2nd acquired last September for $700 delivered. It came with modern reproduction service stocks which I replaced with period service stocks.
