Default A little curiosity: CD-marked 1950s M&P

Those of us with an interest in the Victory model are familiar with the "CIVIL DEFENSE" markings, found in various shapes on some US Victorys and assumed, but not firmly documented, to be post-war additions.
(See pic. 1 + 2; apologies to the original posters; I snipped these off the forum some years ago without noting whose they were.)

I just came across the photos of the oddball C-prefix M&P in pic. 3 + 4, dating to the mid-1950s. This is the first time I've seen a civil defense marking on a civilian revolver. Anyone else?

I don't really need another pre-Model 10. But it would sure be interesting to see who or where this gun letters to.

This doesn't really answer the CD questions but does provide a little more information. And is also the source of your pictures. Civil Defense marked Victory models?

Interesting.

How many of us remember the Civil Defense marks on radios?

I had forgotten about that Cold War-era marking, but I remember it now. At the time, the program was called Control of Electromagnetic Radiation (CONELRAD) and in the event of a national emergency, broadcasting of emergency information was to be on AM 640 and AM 1240 with no broadcasting on other frequencies. The idea was to confuse any radio direction finding equipment on enemy aircraft (ICBMs did not exist then). Supposedly, prior to the Pearl Harbor attack, the Japanese attack force homed in on Honolulu radio broadcasts. All radios made between 1953 and 1963 were required to have the CD dial markings.
