Another one to come home soon. HOME!
Just made a deal, after not buying anything for what seems like ages.
1955 .45 Heavy Barrel 5 screw, 1954-55 era in about 90-95%, (maybe more once I get it and clean it up a bit), for $600.
Have to go thru the NYS permit process but will get it soon.
Has goodyears, but he thinks he has the original grips. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Finally got her.
Smal blem under cylinder release, grips need some TLC from DWFAN, but for 600 bucks, a keeper, I think.

What's the S serial on yours?
The matching serial should be inside the ejector rod shroud,on the cylinder and the butt.
The assembly number in the yoke should match the number on the rear of the side plate.
Unrelieved diamond target grips are what I see most in pictures of 5 screw Pre 25 Model of 1955.The stocks may or may not be numbered to the gun inside the right half.
My 1955,S130745,has a .500" Target Hammer and a .500" Target Trigger.

What is the process for buying a handgun in NY? I couldn't imagine not bringing it home with me immediately.

StakeOut, numbers match. Serial # S161053. Stocks unnumbered, but small relief citadels to be st least period correct.
Pssman, in order to get a handgun in NY, you need to add it to your pistol permit. Depending on the county, it may take anywhere from a day to weeks. Once you get a purchase coupon, you take it to an FFL who does an NICS check and then you can get it. Usually if my LGS has one I want, I can pick it up within 2 days. The reason this one took so long was that the fellow I was buying it from was confused about the process and it took a while, working with his FFL to get things squared at his end
