HELP Identifying my "New to me" Revolver
Please move my post if I have posted in the wrong place! I recently picked up what I believe is a pre 57 model..10? not entirely sure, got it for a song, just trying to figure out a model and a value! Here is a link to a page, pictures are on the first post!

correction
Gun is a 5 screw, 5 inch barrel, 5 digit serial #45396, barrel reads 38 s&w. special ctg.

Welcome! You have a .38-44 (.38 Special on the N or .44 frame) Heavy Duty from about 1934. It is one size larger than the K frame of the .38 Military & Police. Member 1Aspenhill here is the local expert and may chime in. Hope this is helpful.

So it would be a 38/44 HD that was made pre war? My book says add 50% for pre war production! And I would say fair..? agreed? or?

The closest SN I show to 45396 is 456xx which shipped in 5/1935. It is the .38/44 Heavy Duty model on the N-frame. While it is marked as being chambered in .38 Special and will fire any .38 Special loads, its original intent was to fire the .38-44 cartridge, which is a heavily loaded .38 Special cartridge having a muzzle velocity around 1100 ft/sec. It is not unknown that owners of such revolvers sometimes had the chambers lengthened to accept .357 Magnum cartridges. While this is not necessarily a bad conversion, it will lower its value somewhat. It is something you should check for, and the easiest way to find out is to determine if a .357 cartridge or fired case can be fully chambered. Any prospective buyer should be made aware of that.

Place an ad,with a price,in the proper section here.You can't use this section to solicit a sale.
Adding the proper grips might be a worthwhile thing to do.
