Model 19 no dash value help
Guy wants to sell a model 19 no dash, original (?) target grips. Former police gun. Holster wear at muzzle. Quite a few speckles on the cylinder, and wear on front of cylinder. Back strap is dull as well as dull finish on back of grips from wear. Nicks and scrapes on the grips. He says $1,600. No box or anything else.
Are they that rare?

I'm assuming "former police gun" means it likely is blue and has a 4" barrel???
I'm not an expert but IMO and even without pics, from your description it sounds way high.
Did seller happen to say how he determined that price?

Knock off "a Grand" and IMHO you're closer to the ballpark for that gun.
$1600 should get you a "anib" w/ box and docs........and maybe still have $$s to take the wife out for dinner!

A deal if you leave the first digit off the asking price...

The 19 no-dash is the only one I would be interested in buying. But his price is too high by more than 100% for one in that condition.

I'm guessing that the seller was helped by an "expert" that convinced him of the value.
Problem is, now it'll be difficult to get him to understand reality.

I have paid $1750.00 for one but it was boxed and perfect. In the condition you describe 600.00 would be my limit.

That price is much too high for the described 19 no dash. The no dash is not that rare, just not as common as the -3 and -4. I watched one sell locally at a gun show for $900 just a few months ago. This one had no box or extras either, but was in very nice condition (95%). The gun you describe should be around the $600-$700 range. Good luck.

WOW! And I thought the gun show prices around here were ludicrous.
FWIW, I bought a no-dash 19 in comparable condition to what you describe about 6 months and paid $450 OTD for it. The only thing yours has that mine doesn't is original wood. Mine came with a set of Pachmayr presentation rubbers on it...

I paid $1,100 for a drippy mint M19-0 with the box, papers and tools. Shipped to Williams Gun Sight Co. 2-1960. I recently paid $1,250 for a drippy mint 1957, Pre M19 Combat Magnum. No box or tools. I thought I did well on both. Big Larry

$5-600, tops. In that condition dash number or lack of one is of little significance. Not really any more desirable than any other K frame shooter.

I recently paid $1150.00 for a M66 AND an M60 (both no-dash) for the pair - unfired but NO boxes or paperwork. I recently passed on $750 for a LAPD Commemorative 6" 19-4 I had been looking at - but for different reasons.

Six inch, four inch, or two and a half inch, he is $1025.00 too high for me to even consider....( o'course, I already have a 19.)

I agree with the others. About $1000 too high for me. I have a 19-2 similar condition I paid $450 and a 19-4 snub better condition that I traded a Ruger Redhawk for (paid $600 last year of the redhawk). '
Let it sit on his shelf for a few months then offer $600.
