Default Combat Masterpiece wooden filler block
My SCSW3 and 4 states a 2" wooden block was used to fill the space in the box for gold box Combat Masterpieces. Has anyone actually observed one of these blocks? Anyone have a photo?

I have never gotten around to reading all of SCSW.
I had never heard of or seen such a block.

I've never hear of or seen such a block either so I searched the internet for about 15 minutes attempting to find a picture with no luck.

This might give a new meaning to "complete package."

I have never seen nor heard of a wood block spacer but that doesn't mean they weren't used. I don't understand what purpose it would serve.

I do remember Winchester had a block of wood protecting the muzzle and butt. Im talkin prewar boxes. Never seen one in a S&W box. Best

None in my 1952 Pre-15 box........Dad bought it new in 1952/53, and I've known the gun my whole life, and never saw a wooden block in the box. I've never seen a wooden block in any S & W box, for what it's worth, and I've seen quite a few in the last 50+ years.................

Interesting find today....Pre27 5" in box.....with a block of wood filing the void space.

No markings on the wood.

The grain looks pineish. That's why I suggested Doug fir. Could be cedar. Also could be redwood tho.
