Default S&W 22 long rifle ctg airweight

Can anyone provide information on a Smith & Wesson
22 long rifle ctg Airweight.

Serial #5974. I have the red box and paperwork. I inherited it from my father. I don't think it has been fired in over 50 years. It has been cleaned and the bluing is excellent. My father traded a German luger for the 22 and I think he has had it since the early 1960's.

If you are looking for information on your father's gun, please refer to the sticky in each section about the data we need to give you things like shipping date and possible value. Pictures are a great help in determining what you have and what it's worth.

Is the number you posted from the bottom of the gun butt? If from some other location, it is an assembly number and not useful for identifying your handgun.
