Nickel 34-1 price
My LGS has a nickel 34-1 kit gun in near perfect condition. So nice that I fear I would not use it the way a kit gun is meant to be used, but that's a different issue. Pinned but no diamond on the grips. I don't normally go for nickel but I am interested in this one. They are asking $500 OTD. That seems reasonable to me. Am I correct about that?

That's a great price for that little jewel.

I'll get on the "BUY IT NOW!" bandwagon. Paid $545.00 for my four inch nickel 34 without box about two years ago. Great shooting little beastie as well.

Well, you might be in luck. Fortunately for you, no one who knows exactly what this is has wandered in yet.
You didn't say which barrel length it has or the shape of the grip frame. Is it 2" or 4"? Round or square butt?
I'm guessing the serial number starts with the letter M. Is that so? The barrel pin went away sometime in the M190xxx range.

I bought an unfired nickel 4” square butt made in 1973 at what I think is a good deal. I paid $700 out the door at a LGS. Another dealer down the isle had quite a number of 4” square and round butt that had been fired. Some were nickel and some blue with varying degrees of wear. None were anywhere close to the condition of the one I bought. Prices ranged from $800 to $1200. I’m sure there was some haggling room but still none were great deals.

If you're very lucky, it will still be there... That is a bargain.

If you are still here and haven't bought that gem, I'm disappointed in you.

I went by the shop just now and put down a deposit. I was mistaken about the pinned barrel, so it's newer than I had thought. It has an N stamped under the barrel in the ejector rod cutout. Is that a sign of an original nickel finish or a factory refinish?

I bought mine at a local show about a year and a half ago. Paid $675 for it but it has all the options and even a bonus second fitted cylinder in .22 WMR. I thought it was a fair price. It dates to 1969...

Yes, original. You should check for one on the rear face of the cylinder too. They put it there to indicate to the finish shop that this cylinder was to be plated (the guns normally went to the finish shop with the cylinder separated from the frame). We see a similar practice with the Highway Patrolman. They put an H on the rear face of the cylinder to indicate the need for a matte finish because Model 27 cylinders got the high polish.
