Default 1960 Model 17 Missing Rear Sight Assembly

I just bought a nice model 17 from gunbroker and it came with a scope on it instead of a rear sight. I am hoping to buy a replacement rear sight assembly, but I am unsure of exactly where I need to measure to make sure that it will fit my gun.

I was told it was from 1960 and I know from reading various searches on this topic that the front screw for the sight changed location at some point. The serial number is k392xxx and it is a 4 screw gun. If I measure the scope mount from the center of the front screw hole to the center of the rear elevation screw, it measures 1.675"

Is that the measurement that I need to post in an ad in the WTB section? I will be heading to work in just a few, but I can post any pictures needed later tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance, I hope to be able to ditch this scope if I can.

Also, this gun has a 6" barrel and I saw on another forum that the sight blade needs to be .146" tall.

I just checked Numrich and they have a listing for them for $49 and change but are sold out. You might try Gun Broker or Fleabay as they do come up for sale from time to time.

I would think that the two critical items would be the left to right dimensions of the slot if any and the distance between any hold down screws. If the blade is too short it can be replaced but finding the actual sight body itself may be more difficult.

You could also try a WTB ad here on the forum. If anybody has a spare it is probably someone that frequents this forum.

Good luck.

PS: I just checked Numrich again and they do have the 146 blades with or without white outline in stock.

I have one that may fit. PM me and I will send some pictures of it against a ruler to see if it matches what you need.
