Default nherited a "Victory Model" !!

Hi all........inherited isn't exactly a correct phrase as Dad simply gave me his Victory model #10 .38 spl. saying he's too old to shoot anything stronger than .38s&w (he's 81).

due to the dearth of online info I'm forced to stop just lurking and ask the dreaded "what year model is it?" question.

no pics of it yet but those will be coming....along with pics of its' excellent condition Don Hume holster.

anyhow......the serial # is v (then about a 1/2" gap) 5319xx.

thanks in advance for any info y'all can possibly render.

Welcome to the Forum.

A Victory is not a Model 10. Model numbers weren't assigned until 1957 and the action is a bit different between the pre war Military & Police and Victory models and the post war M10.

Pictures would be nice. Many of the Victory models that went to the British were chambered in .38 S&W and were later converted to .38 special. All markings that are on your "new" revolver would be helpful also. Barrel length, finish, type of sights, grips, etc need to be addressed also.

Your Victory model shipped in March 1944. We need pictures and answers to Muley's questions above to correctly identify which type of Victory Model your gun may be and possibly to tell where it was shipped, such as Navy, Army, Marine Corp, OSS, Police Dep't, Defense plant guards, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, US Coast Guard,US Maritime Commission, etc. Please describe all proof and acceptance marks and especially the caliber now and what it was when shipped, if it has been converted. Ed.
