On Barrel Smith and Wesson side 38 CTG

SN 138052 suggests a shipping date in the 1909-10 period. The B prefix to the SN stamped on the barrel indicates that it was shipped with a blued finish. Yours would have been called a .38 Hand Ejector, Model of 1905. The grips are of the correct style for that period, yet the coloration and condition seem strange. Possibly modern replica grips? Is there any SN on the back side of the right grip panel? It also appears that the front sight may have been altered.

Welcome to the Forum.

The serial number on the grips would have been written in pencil. If still there, it may be hard to read. The right side of the revolver looks pretty good. How is the left side?

According the the 3rd edition of the SCS&W you have a .38 M&P Model of 1905 - 2nd change. Made between 1906 - 1909.

I have a cousin, a 3rd change which shipped in 1914.
