The threads for the extractor rod broke off in the extractor on m1917 45acp. I don't think I can get the broken part out so I need another extractor rod and extractor. Anybody know where I could find these parts?

Check Firearm Parts & Accessories | Military Surplus | Numrich Gun Parts. Any N frame rod (except for a triple lock) with a mushroom extractor rod knob (like say a .455 or .44 2nd) should work. If you've got a Dremel tool, you can likely get that broken end out of the star. I think Harbor Freight sells screw extractors.

The 1917 is right hand threads. I think other N frames are left hand threads.

I found this but I don't think there is a such thing. Should be a 1909 in 45 LC or 1917 in 45acp. Am I wrong?

All the extractor rods pre-war were right hand thread. There were some .45 Colt guns made after WWII. S&W wouldn't have called them the 1917, though.

Let me correct something. There may be length differences if you use a rod from another N frame due to differences in cylinder length. I don't know if S&W made the rods all the same length and varied the star shaft or vice versa.

Unfortunately I can't use a screw extractor. The extractor pin rod is still trapped in the extractor star because the broken threads are holding it in place. I'd have to push the rod in and cut it off to get a screw extractor on it.

Also, I said before numrich was out, but they may not be. They are out of the early style. What's the difference between the early and late style extractor rods? Part #8. Also, are all the N frame center pins the same?
