Military & Police With 2 Inch Barrel Late 40's With New Grips
I picked this one up today. I have been wanting one of these for a while something about that short barrel with a round front sight. serial number is. C17356 I am thinking 1949 as a possible ship date. It has some freckling, but tight as a drum even with the present grips $275 was a no brainer. Now to find some sharp shouldered magna grips for it. As they say without pictures it didn't happen better daylight pictures to follow.

I found one of those a while back... somehow there are now 3 of them living in my safe. Not sure how that happened. Kinda like puppies. Maybe bore like potato chips: can't stop at just one. With a price like that you need to be thinking 'lottery ticket'. Congrats.

It almost certainly was assembled in 1948 and might well have shipped that year. I show one nearly 30,000 higher that shipped in January, 1949.
Nice find but I agree it needs correct Magna stocks on it!
I don't have a 2" with an early C prefix (yet), but I'm happy with this long action version that shipped in September, 1947.

Congrats. I do have to agree with Randy - they are infectious and seem to spread without you being aware...
...I was just going to pick up one...then I needed a round butt one and then a long action "S" SN one... Along the way, I also picked up one modified to wear Farrant-Style grips...
(it came with a very nice Clarke holster)

Here's a C serial I sold a couple of years ago and have recently been regretting the sale, until the local forum members emails me a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to buy it back. I'm keeping it this time. And yes, the pre war grips do match! The round butts don't pop up too often.
My D serial
And my early post war long action.

I personally don't care for 2" square butt revolvers, but for $275, I'd a bought that one too.

Great find. Nothing better than a 2 inch square butt, best handling snub there is!

Back in the 1950s-60s, those plastic Franzite fake stag grips were all the rage, and they still have sort of a following. Several of the very first handguns I bought had them, including a K-frame snubby with nickel finish. I didn't keep it too long, not considered too sexy back at that time. I once bought a pair of Franzites for one of my Lugers, and somehow I lost the original checkered wood grips, ditto for a .45 M1911. Actually, the Franzite grips looked pretty good.

I picked up this one earlier this month, with a probable ship date in the spring of '51.
They are out there and certainly addictive.
