Well contacted JackFirst seems the only large screw for a 5 screw is for a K Frame ? I am seeking one for an early pre 36 chiefs special 4 didgit serial number era
Any other possible ideas on a source

If you have a 4 digit Chiefs Special, it's a Baby Chiefs (pre 1953), not a Pre 36.

• Change order April 19, 1943 to shorten the K frame bug screws (upper side plate screw) to .181" upper limit.

Therefore the K screw is the same size as I and J frames. I removed the bug screw from my post 1943 K frame and it fits perfectly in my pre 1953 Chiefs, and my post 1953 Chiefs (the Pre Model 36).

Here's other sources of screws and parts:

GUN GARAGE on Ebay (for screws)
http://stores.ebay.com/Gun-Garage

"Aonepawninc" http://stores.ebay.com/aonepawninc
has a bunch of S&W parts for sale. I just ordered a complete hammer for my pre model 30 from them. They are very customer oriented and have very reasonable prices. 1/10/16

I think that it is a neat project gun. Will look forward to hearing your range report when it is done.

Interesting project gun. Looks like a first order would be a tear down and soak in a cleaner of your choice, then reassembled with a light oiling. This may or may not clear up the double action problem whatever it is.
