I found another Regulation Police that came from the Petersen collection. This gun was a special order made in correspondence between Ray Shapiro of Detroit, Cabot & Webster in Yonkers, and Mr. Smith. Shapero wanted a collection of as many models of S&W handguns that he could obtain, all with the RM type of high-gloss finish, and all with NO-TURN Lines....perfect guns. Smith agreed to have an assortment of 25 various models of new guns finished especially for him at a cost of $5.00 each...I know this since my close friend, Joel Gross, was the owner of Cabot & Webster and in the letter from S&W.
That said, Bob Petersen saw Ray's guns and, later, arranged to purchase them all.
I have 2 of the Regulation police guns in the order....the 4", which I have shown here before:
And the 3" , which I found on GunBroker this week......I knew the box label and I have all the Original shipping slips and invoices from the December 19, 1955 delivery.
The seller has a Model 37 and Model 40 from this order. I can obtain them, so if there is any interest, contact me. I collect .32s....
