The barrel is measured from tip of muzzle to the cylinder, so your looking like a 6 inch barrel.
These were known as simply K38's or the K 38 Masterpiece. When model #s were prescribed in or about 1957 it became the Model 15.
These are desirable and sought after, I would think it is a $800 gun.

Model 14.
The Model 15 is the Combat Masterpiece with 4" barrel.
Usually.
There are some funny combinations out there.

$700-$800 is a good range for a retail sale down here in FL.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! Have you shot it yet? The K-22/K-32/K-38 Masterpieces were S&W's top of the line target revolvers right after WWII. They are still among the finest shooting revolvers ever made.

The closest SNs to K 92530 that I have listed all shipped during the late 1950 period. It is also in the 1950 manufacturing range. As previously stated, S&W would have called it the K-38 Masterpiece, made too early to have a model number. It was very popular among competitive target shooters.

Welcome to the Forum.
As stated above, when your revolver was built, S&W had not assigned model numbers yet. That came about in 1957. Yours is a K38 Masterpiece.

When S&W began assigning model numbers in the late 1950s, the K-38 Masterpiece became the Model 14. There is no K14 Masterpiece.

Don't forget that the "K" on the butt is also part of the serial number.

DWalt. You are absolutely right. This is the front page of the owners manual.
