Default Post Reg. 3 1/2 357 range report

Hi
This is a gun I have had for a few years it is a working gun not a safe queen.
It was one of 3 shipped to a sheriffs dept in a small town in eastern Washington. This is the first time I have taken it out to shoot. It was a late shipment serial number is 61623 would have been shipped in 1940.
The 3 1/2 inch guns in the post Reg. were scarce most of the guns in this
series were 4 inch models for Kansas city. It shoots very good. it just show
its honest use. I had to post this one because one of the forum members
asked if I had any guns that were not collector items.
Jim Fisher LM 1491

This is the target from 25 feet Standing

I all ways shoot my guns off a rest just to see how good these older guns are. I will put these
guns from 1900 to 1940 up against any of the newer guns.

That "working gun" could work for me any time if wanted to.

Jim, Thanks for continuing to share your collection with the forum. "Collectible" or not, it is great that you find the time to shoot and enjoy the ones you can.

Some might enjoy learning what you mean by "post Reg."

And ... 7 gr. 2400? Does that ignite OK? I guess your targets speak for themselves.

Can you tell us a little about the 7gr 2400 load. How long have you used the load and how much crimp? Your targets look great and as I get older the load sounds comfortable for 2400. Thanks

Thanks for sharing with us, Jim, but I'm still not sure you have any guns that are not "collector's items"!!! I'm sure that there are quite a few of us who would call that old .357 a collectors item!!

What wonderful accuracy as well. Next time I'm at the bench, I'll have to run up a few of that load. Never tried it before. Seems to work for you, in that bbl length and caliber anyway.

Best Regards, Les

Hi
The load is about the same as the factory wad cutter loads 690 feet per sec.
I use 38 special cases for both 357 and 38 with SW lead bullets and a light crimp.

Jim,

Gun and targets look great, but you are freaking me out. You shot those targets on "5/21/17". I only have one explanation:

"You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone."

It's just sort of like the Twilight Zone. After a long time being tied to a calendar and a clock----not to mention pesky secretaries, and a peskier boss (even if, or especially if you're the boss), you retire. It takes awhile sometimes, but you eventually stop paying attention to calendars and clocks. Not too long after that, you not only don't know what the date or time is----you don't care. If stuff is getting green, it's springtime.

Then, when faced with filling out a form of some sort, you're asked for a date. Me---I leave it blank. That way nobody can say I got it wrong.

Ralph Tremaine----an old person

Ralph, that's why I like to get on my computer or cellphone in the morning, they have the "date" as well as the time. (I'm glad they also include the year).

This was my thought exactly. I am not sure that showing this revolver is much of a defense to being accused of only owning collector's items!

Yeah, if this is your idea of "not collectible", I need you to adopt me!

Thanks for letting us see a great revolver!

Yeah, computers are handy; although I recall having been dragged kicking and screaming into getting one. Cell phones are a different matter altogether----I think. I don't have one. I thought about getting one---way back when all you could do was communicate with them. Then I thought about talking to folks whenever and wherever THEY wanted to talk, and decided to talk when I wanted to talk. Some sort of compromise there.

There have been a FEW times when I wished I had a cell phone. I got over it. The Boss Lady has a cell phone. She bought it not too long ago---to take with her on an extended road trip---gave her a warm fuzzy feeling I reckon. I've noticed it sitting on her desk in the kitchen-----been there a loooooooong time. I'm pretty sure the battery hasn't been charged since too long. Seems like she's making do too.
