Default Another .38 special- k 256xxx

I also inherited another .38 special the serial number is k 256xxx any info on either gun would be amazing thanks

Circa 1955 . . . if a 6" barrel length is a K-38 Masterpiece (later designated the Model 14) and a 4" barrel would be a K-38 Combat Masterpiece (later designated the Model 15). Again a medium sized K frame.

k 256xxx would indicate that it is a K-38 which probably shipped sometime in 1956. There were two variations, one having a 6" barrel, called the "K-38 Masterpiece" which was marketed primarily to target shooters. The other version had a 4" barrel and was called the "K-38 Combat Masterpiece" which saw considerable law enforcement service, and was also the official sidearm of the USAF for quite a few years.
